Founding Pastor and Georgia native, Bryan James, is a graduate of Pentecostal Theological Seminary where he earned a Master’s Degree in Church Leadership with an emphasis on Missions. He and his wife Elaine moved to California in 2005 to launch Monterey Church. In 2012, Pastor Bryan led Monterey Church through a season of reformation into a more missional model, which included overseeing a new church plant in Northern Virginia (where he currently resides) and establishing a robust partnership with Compassion International to release children from poverty in the name of Jesus. Pastor Bryan and Elaine have four children: Rachel, Sarah, Julia and Samuel. Bryan enjoys running, books, and anything and everything related to FSU football.
Moe was born in Newburyport, MA and grew up in Dunnellon, FL. After high school, Moe spent 21 years serving in the United States Air Force with travels to over 20 countries. While serving, he completed his BS in Computer Information Systems and Master’s in Business Administration. Moe and his family were one of the founding families at our Monterey Virginia location. In fact, Kids Church was held in his basement. Moe felt called to serve in larger capacity at Monterey Church. His focus is on the business operations, discipleship and leadership development. Moe and his wife Wendi (also AF veteran) are the parents of three boys; Payton, Avery, and Calen. In his spare time, Moe enjoys sports, working out, cooking, and spending time with the family.
Student Ministries Pastor
Dan grew up in Northern Virginia. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Marketing at James Madison University. He began serving at Monterey Church in 2014 and has been a part of both our Virginia and California campuses. He loves hanging out and sharing Jesus with students and helping them discover their purpose God created them for. Dan and his wife Hannah married in 2018 and have the goal of one day completing their visits of all the United States National Parks. They like to stay active and enjoy being outdoors, hiking, camping, exploring new coffee shops and going on adventures.
Lindsay grew up in Northern Virginia, as a child, youth, and adult she served in children’s ministry. She has her associates degree in Business Administration from Northern Virginia Community College. Lindsay came to Monterey Church in 2019 seeking a new church home and found a loving church family, great friends, a husband, and a job all within her first eighteen months here! Lindsay works full time in real estate in addition to being our GoKids Director. When she’s not working she can be found gardening at her home, volunteering with our youth, hiking with her husband, or watching anything Joanna Gaines related!
Women's Ministry Director
Thanh has called Northern VA home since age four, when she arrived in the U.S. as a refugee of the Vietnam War. Thanh graduated cum laude from George Mason University with a BS in Marketing and is currently in the Biblical Studies program at Liberty University. Thanh joined Monterey Church in 2015 and has served as a worship leader/vocalist and women’s discipleship group leader, prior to her new role as Women’s Ministry Director. She is passionate about discipleship and seeing women cultivate a deeper relationship with the Lord. Her heart is to see others walk in freedom, fully receiving their new identity in Christ and experiencing the abundant life Jesus came to give! Prior to God’s call to church ministry, Thanh spent 10 years as a federal proposal consultant and owned/operated a small design business. Thanh resides in Warrenton with her husband Randy and their two sons, Grant and Max. She enjoys writing, reading, learning new worship songs, and family time.
